Save Them All

Do you love cats even when you can’t pet them? Do you want to help save their lives through trap/neuter/return? We’re looking for someone with experience, professionalism, a great attitude and a lot of love to give to community cats in the Coachella Valley area. You’ll be in charge of trapping cats who need to be spayed and neutered, driving them to clinics for their operations, and returning them once they’ve recovered. It’s the most humane and most effective way of reducing the number of outdoor cats and giving them a better quality of life. Of course, there’ll all be kinds of odds and ends you’ll need to look after, including keeping the traps in good, working order, staying on top of schedules, and relating comfortably with people in the cats’ neighborhoods. You’ll need to be very reliable and work independently. But also be a part of Best Friends and our mission, representing us with warmth and knowledge when speaking to others in the community about this important work. Are you feeling like you’re a match? Are you getting that tingle of “what if”? Then please drop us an application! This might be exactly the job you were meant to do.

Operate a trap loan system and keep accurate records.
  • Keep plenty of supplies for trapping on hand.
  • Get the cats (5 to 30 cats) to the clinic in a timely manner. Ensure that cats are organized by colonies and properly labeled including any medical concerns, relaying any relevant information to the medical team and other staff.
  • Pick up cats from the clinic and return them to their colony per schedule.
  • Clean the clinic area when cats stay overnight.
  • Clean traps after release, for next use.
  • Ensure that clinic policies and CCP program and procedures are being accurately followed.
  • Create a plan of action for each project and implement it.
  • Update client cases regularly, keeping track of colonies and caregivers.
  • Schedule spay/neuter appointments for the clinic for individual clients and additional.
  • Collaborate with local shelters, animal welfare organizations, and the public to increase positive outcomes for community cats.
  • Act as liaison with Palm Springs Animal Shelter and other stakeholders to ensure program goals and grant agreement terms are met in a collaborative and effective manner.
  • Work with the shelter and veterinary staff to ensure that there are no scheduling problems.

Best Friends Animal Society has been building effective lifesaving programs for more than 30 years. When Best Friends began, 17 million animals died every year in shelters. Today, thanks to caring people like you, the number of animals killed per year is two million. Still, nearly 5,500 dogs and cats are killed in America’s shelters every day, simply because they don’t have safe places to call home. By increasing the number of adoptions and implementing spay/neuter programs to reduce the number of animals who enter shelters, we know we can end the killing. Work with us to help Save Them All®.
