The Paris Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) is seeking an Executive Director to lead the agency in fulfilling its mission, improving and expanding its services and to oversee day to day management of its operations.

Candidates should have experience in supervision, fund raising, grant writing, budget creation/management and the ability to present a positive image of the agency.

The right candidate will have the ability to problem solve and deal with many types of people in diverse situations.

Previous animal welfare experience highly desired.

This position is full time and requires occasional evening or weekend work.

The job requires public speaking, responding to media and working with law enforcement, local government officials, and business leaders.

The Executive Director functions as chief spokesperson, advocate, outreach, and development officer.

Salary commensurate with experience.

Selection criteria include

• Significant leadership experience and accomplishments in a relevant area; preference given to those with bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a related subject

• A track record of successful leadership and management experience

• Experience with an animal-related nonprofit preferable, having a proven record of sustained organizational growth either as a senior staff member or board member

• Exceptional communication skills with staff, board, volunteers, media, donors and the public, with a demonstrated ability to articulate the unique aspects of the mission and core values of PAWS

• Successful experience cultivating and soliciting funds from individuals, foundations, grants, and corporations

• Develop and oversee our annual fundraising program, including plan and coordinate fundraising events

About PAWS Founded in 1992, the Paris Animal Welfare Society is the open admission shelter in Bourbon County, Kentucky. We receive about 2,000 animals annually and maintain a live-release rate well over 90%. PAWS has four offsite adoption centers in nearby Lexington, KY, and we work closely with surrounding rural shelters to save even more lives.
