Animal Place is a non-profit animal rights organization promoting the complete protection of farmed animals and veganism. We operate several facilities throughout California. Our 600-acre sanctuary is in Grass Valley, CA; it serves as a permanent safe haven for farmed animals as well as an education and advocacy center. In conjunction with the sanctuary, Grass Valley is also home to our 15-acre residential internship property and a 7-acre onsite guest house (next door to the sanctuary). The 60-acre Rescue Ranch facility in Vacaville, CA, provides temporary home for adoptable farmed animals, with a special emphasis on chickens from the egg industry. About the Position:

The Food for Thought California & Southwest Coordinator is responsible for establishing and expanding the Food for Thought campaign within their assigned region, which includes: California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Utah. The regional coordinator will identify and recruit campaign endorsers, encourage and assist relevant nonprofits to adopt vegan/vegetarian menu policies, develop content for the FFT website and social media, and network with sheltering organizations at conferences and other events.

Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Construct and maintain contact database of potential campaign endorsers and supporters
  • Conduct research on target organizations’ management staff and relevant internal policies
  • Introduce and present the FFT program to appropriate staff members by email and telephone
  • Professionally and convincingly discuss veganism and animal rights in service of the FFT campaign
  • Perform site visits as needed to recruit campaign participants and endorsers
  • Table on behalf of the campaign at relevant festivals, conventions, and conferences
  • Develop content for the FFT website and Animal Place social media that furthers the goals of the campaign
  • Teleconference weekly with Campaign Manager and three other Regional Coordinators
  • Understand Animal Place’s policies and positions regarding key animal protection issues; appropriately and accurately represent those policies when interacting with the public or otherwise representing Animal Place.
  • Perform other duties and functions as assigned by Campaign Manager

Qualifications

  • Able to work independently but also as part of a small team
  • Excellent organizational skills: can set priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress towards goals, and track information and activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate effectively with senior management
  • Understanding the needs and concerns of animal shelters, humane societies, and other animal protection organizations
  • Computer literate and internet savvy; experience with Google Drive is an asset
  • Consistent and reliable internet access
  • Personal cell phone with service plan
  • Willing to dress and otherwise present in a professional manner
  • Driver’s license
  • Experience in a non-profit setting preferred (not required)
  • Campaign experience preferred (not required)
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (not required)

Job Status:

Part-Time Contract, 20hr/week, Hourly wage based on experience
