Established in 1977, Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) is an international non-profit, marine wildlife conservation organization. Our mission is to end the destruction of habitat and slaughter of wildlife in the world’s oceans in order to conserve and protect ecosystems and species. Sea Shepherd uses innovative direct-action tactics to investigate, document, and take action when necessary to expose and confront illegal activities on the high seas. POSITION SUMMARY

The Grants Manager is responsible for writing and preparing grant and funding proposals for foundations, corporations, and private donors. This person must be self-directed and capable of working independently on proposals and reports with limited instruction. This person will be responsible for meeting performance targets for proposals and applications.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum 3 years of development and grant writing experience.
  • Knowledge of existing grantors and ability to research and identify new funding prospects.
  • Has exceptional expository writing and verbal persuasion skills, with the ability to translate complex campaigns and programs into targeted fundraising requests;
  • Ability to write grants from concept, LOI, to full proposal.
  • Must be well-versed in Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Follow up on assignments, show initiative, be self-motivated, and have a strong work ethic
  • Possess strong time management skills, including deadline prioritization of multiple projects with real-time timelines for assignments.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Writing proposals, reports, and other funder correspondences.
  • Identifying potential sources of funding and revenue, while helping maintain positive relationships with existing funders.
  • Coordinating efforts of key staff members to ensure that documents are completed by the specified deadlines for grant proposals.
  • Tracking and monitoring proposals, their deadlines, and requirements.

 

The candidate will work full time in our HQ office in Burbank, CA
