Website The Humane League

The Humane League is an international farm animal advocacy group that fosters a high-energy culture of teamwork and mission-driven problem solving. We have earned recognition as Top Charity from Animal Charity Evaluators for all of their rating periods. Over the past few years, The Humane League has positioned itself for sustained growth and success in our mission to reduce the suffering of farm animals. We have a current staff size of 50+ dispersed across the US and internationally.

We are seeking a graphic designer to join our growing, dynamic communications team in the US to assist in producing printed and digital materials, campaign artwork and social marketing assets. This is a full-time, remote position.

Your position plays an integral role in enhancing the quality of communications at The Humane League. We want you because you have a mission- and values-centered orientation and a strong, demonstrated understanding of design with a portfolio to prove it. You are ideal for this position because you are creative, have a strong work ethic, and have strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Ideally, you bring one or more years of professional experience. You are a creative, strong problem-solver with a focus on innovation and improvement who wants to bring your experience and talents to bear in a job that creates real change.

This is a full-time, remote position with occasional travel.

You will report to the Vice President of Communications and will work under the direction of the Creative Lead/Principal Designer. Your responsibilities for this exciting position will involve a combination of production work and more creative projects (beginning with a heavier load of production work, and moving into more creative work as you grow in the position). These tasks vary across the wide range of visual assets that The Humane League produces, and may include:

  • Execute social media graphics with the Director of New Media
  • Create marketing materials for THL hosted events and corporate campaign actions (printed postcards, posters, event agendas, leaflets, etc.)
  • Infographics to accompany fundraising, donor relations, and end of year reports
  • Website design (microsites) for various campaigns and THL sponsored events
  • Laying out and resizing images for our e-news and blog
  • Assist in maintaining the aesthetic standards of The Humane League’s visual brand

  • A digital portfolio exemplifying work in both digital and print outlets
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (especially InDesign, Illustrator, PhotoShop)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (including creating Word templates and PPT presentations)
  • Working knowledge of setting up files for print and an understanding of current digital design standards
  • Ability to take direction from Creative Lead, implement feedback promptly, and execute final work, frequently under tight deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as THL is a remote organization and the vast majority of our communication is done virtually
  • Confidence in presenting work to the team and receptive to constructive criticism
  • Works well both independently and collaboratively
  • Experience meeting strict deadlines and managing priorities across multiple departments and various projects, in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Experience with illustration and animation is a plus
  • Knowledge of Wordpress or other CMS is a plus
  • Familiar with, but ideally passionate about, farm animal issues
