Litigation Program Administrator/Paralegal

The Litigation Program Administrator’s primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth functioning and management of all administrative operations associated with ALDF’s Litigation Program and personnel.

Essential responsibilities:

1) Director of Litigation

  • Manage scheduling, production, and distribution of all documents and appointments.
  • Maintain confidential employee support and management of confidential documents.
  • Manage, oversee and prioritize all externally generated correspondence and communications.

2) Litigation Program (LP)

  • Manage scheduling, production and distribution of all administrative aspects of the Litigation Program to on-site and remote employees.
  • Manage all administrative operations related to recruitment and orientation of new employees, including law clerks, law fellows and staff attorneys.
  • Maintain an electronic filing system as well as physical filing system for all documents related to LP.
  • Maintain LP’s electronic case and calendar management systems.
  • Monitor Google alerts and refer relevant stories and news to LP personnel.
  • Hire private investigators and compile background information on potential targets of investigation.
  • Interface with Operations Department to ensure ordering and maintenance of equipment and inventory.

3) General Counsel

  • Interface with General Counsel regarding litigation holds, contracts and letters of engagement.
  • Provide agency-wide notary services.

4) Finance and H.R.

  • Interface with Finance Department to assure timely and efficient handling of invoices and other bookkeeping matters,
  • Serve as liaison with all outside independent contractors.
  • Interface with HR to assure that onboarding, reviews and termination documentation of personnel are handled efficiently and in full compliance with ALDF policies.
  • Serve as liaison with remote clerks.

5) Animal Law Program (ALP)

  • Liaise and coordinate with ALP regarding law clerks, pro bono attorneys and PAT database management.

6) Communications Department (Comms)

  • Coordinate with Comms re: job postings, and provide access to Litigation documents and upcoming filings and deadlines.

7) Criminal Justice Program (CJP)

  • Serve as administrative liaison with CJP.
