The Nashville Humane Association is seeking a Medical Director to oversee and monitor the health of shelter animals, our high volume community spay/neuter clinic and provide veterinary expertise in the organizations policies and procedures.

Responsibilities include:

performing spay/neuter surgeries for the public and shelter, assisting the Executive Director in establishing and maintaining all health related protocols to maximize adoptions and minimize euthanasia,and managing a staff team of LVTs and Vet Assistants, and contracted Vets for high volume spay/neuter clinic.


• Must have a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from an accredited university and be licensed in the state of Tennessee

• DEA and state license required to purchase controlled drugs

• Previous animal shelter experience required

• Must have previous low-cost, high-volume spay/neuter experience

• Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills required

• Possess the ability to work well with staff and the public in high stress situations

• Some evening and weekends may be required
