Rainforest Trust seeks an experienced Video Editor to develop engaging videos for our growing audience. At the heart of the position, the ideal candidate must be a creative storyteller. The Video Editor will assist the Communications & Outreach team with creating cinematic and compelling content along with podcasts, vlogs, gifs and other forms of media content. We are not looking for just a button pusher, we are looking for an editor who knows how to tell a story.

Rainforest Trust is a highly efficient and effective U.S. non-profit founded in 1988 with the mission to purchase and protect threatened rainforests and tropical habitat to save endangered wildlife through community engagement and local partnerships. To date, we have saved more than 17 million acres across 26 countries at 130 project sites with the ambitious goal of protecting 50 million acres by the year 2020. Our great financial efficiency and program effectiveness consistently earn us Charity Navigator’s top 4-star rating.

This is a full-time position in our office in Warrenton, VA.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

·        Actively work in all aspects of post-production including, editing, compositing, green screen, retouching, format conversion, encoding, sound production, sound recording, sound design, compression and mastering

·        Apply a deep understanding of what great social video content looks like to our projects

·        Ability to edit in a wide variety of styles with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment

·        Maintain departmental workflow processes and standard operating procedures

·        Manage media production schedule and archive

·        Keep up to date on industry changes and trends for social video production

·        Perform other duties as assigned or required

Qualification & Skills Required:

·        Advanced knowledge of Adobe Premiere, After Effects, Audition and the Adobe Creative Suite

·        Advanced knowledge of video and audio editing techniques

·        Creative thinking, dynamic problem-solving and superior storytelling skills

·        Ability to function well as part of a team

·        Knowledge of third party plug-ins and digital video and audio file formats

·        Ability to analyze and improve post-production processes; able to pick up new techniques

·        Work well under deadline-oriented atmosphere

·        Ability to work with multiple projects and be a self-starter

·        Strong self-organization, planning and time management skills

·        A personal passion for the environment and wildlife conservation

Preferred Skills and Qualifications:

  • BS / BA university degree in related field

·        Motion graphic design (Big Plus!)

·        Minimum 3 years experience

·        Familiar with editing styles found on YouTube, social media sites and non-traditional platforms
