Farm Sanctuary’s Walk for Farm Animals has played an important role in our history – including our fundraising, education, and engagement efforts. We are looking for an experienced advocate to build upon this history, directing and overseeing this nationwide program. The Walk for Farm Animals Manager is part of our Development Department team and reports to the Development Manager of Special Events.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Walk program budget and track revenue
  • Prioritize key markets to invest further in Walk development and success
  • Develop and lead strategies to recruit, acknowledge, and retain participants and sponsors.
  • Manage vendors, including outside event planners, merchandise, fulfillment, rentals, food and printing services.
  • Develop effective working relationships with walk site leaders and committee members to implement and grow the participation and revenues for Walk events
  • Lead and support walk site coordinators in driving walker participation, team development, and fundraising.
  • Manage the local and regional sponsorship program and work closely with site leaders to continue to increase the success of the program
  • Create and manage content for online fundraising websites and individual event web pages
  • Propose and implement online marketing strategy
  • Work with Communications Department to manage and enhance promotion of the
  • Walk, including celebrity involvement and cultivating media coverage
  • Develop and manage an annual marketing plan
  • Coordinate and order printed marketing materials for all sites
  • Manage the Walk Facebook page, and oversee site specific Facebook pages by supporting volunteers in implementing social media strategies

Qualifications

  • Background and experience in marketing, communications and/or event management required
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • At least three to five years experience in related fields including event management, public relations, fundraising, and volunteer management
  • At least one year experience managing walk-a-thon and/or races preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work with volunteers and activists nationally as well as colleagues internally in a mission-oriented environment
  • Experience managing a large budget
  • Strong analytical and project management skills
  • Ability to effectively and professionally communicate with celebrities and other public figures
  • Outgoing, energetic, with strong written, verbal and problem solving skills
  • Diplomatic and able to work well under pressure
  • Capable of building and sustaining relationships with a variety of individuals and organizations.
  • Organized, detail oriented, able to adhere to timelines and prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite
  • To represent organizational mission in member relations, candidate must be vegetarian/vegan or aspiring to be vegan by the time of accepting this position.
  • Working knowledgeable on farm animal and vegan issues preferred

Job Specifications

  • Full time, exempt position
  • Some evenings and weekends required during the walk season
  • Preferred location is either our Los Angeles, CA or Watkins Glen, NY office, but candidates interested in telecommuting from a remote home office will be considered.
  • Regular travel is required during the walk seasons to key Walk sites and Watkins Glen, NY
  • Salary based commensurate with experience
