Are you a fundraising professional looking to use your skills for a cause you are passionate about? The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is looking for a full-time Annual Fund Coordinator to join our growing development team working at our Milwaukee Campus. WHS is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation with four operating locations, a budget of approximately $8 million, and a four-star rating from Charity Navigator.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate and support the direct mail program including direct mail appeals and newsletters, ensuring all content and production deadlines are met
  • Coordinate and support annual telethon
  • Manage other annual fund programs including, but not limited to, memorial bricks, Lorraine’s Garden memorial columbarium, cell phone donations, and general in-kind donations
  • Provide administrative support and stewardship for the monthly giving program and other donor club programs
  • Serve as the main point of contact for donors and clients who contact WHS with general donation inquiries, including in-person, phone, e-mail, and mailed inquiries
  • Provide back-up support for donation entry as needed

About Us

The Wisconsin Humane Society (WHS) is the oldest and largest shelter in Wisconsin. It was founded in 1879 and operates shelters in Milwaukee, Ozaukee and Racine Counties, as well as a Spay/Neuter Clinic in West Allis. The organization offers adoption services, educational programming, and veterinary resources for animals from low-income households, retail stores, volunteer programs and dog training classes. The Milwaukee shelter also houses the state’s busiest Wildlife Rehabilitation Center. WHS is an independent nonprofit and receives no general government funding and is not part of any national umbrella group.

Qualifications – An enthusiastic and committed professional with the following experience and attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience
  • Experience working in a non-profit development department preferred
  • Experience working in Raiser’s Edge preferred
  • Excellent computer skills, prior experience with MS Word and MS Excel required
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • High attention to detail and basic math skills
  • Emotionally capable of handling high-pressure situations in a professional manner in a fast paced environment
  • Professional appearance and presentation
  • Capable of accepting and completing work assignments with minimal supervision in a highly motivated manner
  • Commitment to treat animals and people with respect and kindness
